I am unable to get to my hosted server at Afrihost - is anyone else also having a problem?

We are investigating reports of an intermittent fault affecting our cloud hosting environment; affected servers may experience limited to no connectivity to the servers. Our technicians are looking into the problem and hope to resolve it shortly. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Yes, cannot access email, ftp or client zone. Afrihost support not responding on whatsapp.
 
Just spoke to someone on whatsapp chat
Said my server is down whats the ETA and what's wrong.
Answer - your server is down, we will let u know when its up.
 
It is intermittent, and The Server Admin Team is working on it.
It hasn't been up at ALL so please stop claiming its intermittent. And the server team aren't even able to tell us what the actual issue is.

No idea why you need to get angry at somebody who is trying to assist you, Afrigirl stated they are working on it, all you can do is wait patiently, complaining is going to get you no where

I do understand that Afrigirl is trying to assist, but my server has been down since 08h51 this morning. Up to now, nobody can even tel us what is going on or give us an ETA. I had to ask the service team @ 09h41 to at least update the Network Status webpage as it still indicated that "Everything is looking good", thats after I already spoke to them at 08h55 regarding the server being not accessible.

All I would like to know is when will everything be back to normal as my clients could not access the system for more than 6 hours already today. Will they be able to access the server over the weekend, or will be down on Monday also?

I object to lying in all forms. How is telling us the connectivity is intermittent when for me and other people its not intermittent at all, helpful precisely? How is telling me that the Server Admin Team is working on it, helpful? At a bare minimum I hope their Server Admin Team aren't on a teambuilding, but are working on it.

Do you know what would have been helpful? Telling us what the problem is so we can tell our clients an estimate on time to repair. Examples - Its a core router - we are replacing it, ETA unknown, great, I can estimate in a few hours it will be up and I can tell people. Its the aircons that blew again and server hardware popped - great, I can assume multiday downtime and make a plan, tell people. A generator has blown and we are in load shedding - great, we know that the power will come back shortly so servers will boot, but it will go down again as spares are a issue on generator sets, so move services to other servers.

For interest sake the server came back 30 minutes ago. It wasn't a router as the server was rebooted/shutdown. Not sure if my experience the same as others.
 
So if they gave you an ETA and they go one minute over the ETA, then everybody starts to spam the forum wondering why its not done yet, which I know for a fact you will do by the way you react to every single message. Complaining here is literally not going to do anything as I stated in my previous message, yet you still do it???

So somehow expecting information equals turning into a raging hulk like person saying they are over the ETA at one minute past the deadline - please, stop making silly comparisons. No one came to complain on the forum after 5 minutes of downtime. Do you know what I expect from them when they give an ETA..... this is going to surprise u, possibly even shock u. If u aren't going to make it you come back and communicate that hey, we wanted to get it up by X time but we couldn't. And did u even read my post where I said even if they can't give us a ETA - for the reasons that I consider bad but you outlined - could they tell us what's is actually wrong so we can estimate for ourselves how much effort to put in rerouting clients?

Complaining here may change the way a company communicates, it may encourage them to stop being such terrible communicators, or if they don't change, maybe when someone searches the forums before signing up they may have second thoughts about using them.

Do u enjoy bad service? Do you enjoy companies telling you one thing but in practice on the ground something else is happening, which you are completely aware of because u can see it with your own eyes. If you do take your own advice - go sit quietly in the corner and be patient, don't reply. Alternatively, you had your say - did u expect the people who complained on the forum to just not reply. It is a bit weak to then go, but why did u reply to my reply, why don't u just be patient or quiet - do u secretly work for Afrihost?

Apologies for the issues experienced.

We have restored almost all the servers and just a few remain down. Server Admins are still working on them.
