the Golf R 7 is about the only hot hatch I would consider

if a car is still doing a 14s quarter mile it can't be a hot hatch

Still dull as nails to look at though. Rather opt for some other sexy German alternative. There are 3 to choose from...
I agree they don't put the most aggressive styling on the cars, but honestly I prefer it that way. If I was buying in the price range it would be either the RS3 or a 235i depending on a few factors

It's still in mint condition, and apparently it was a driven by an older women who had just traded it in.
.

Yes, older women buy hot hatches like the Megan RS 265 Cup :)

EDIT: I see a couple of others mentioned this before...

Maybe a little too hot for some, so I'm posting a picture of a blue one :

Beautiful looking car; ****ty gearbox. I test drove two of them. Plus, no automatic.

BMW 235i or 135i Secondhand

I'm biased, but the M235i auto is simply amazing. Easy cruiser in the traffic; brutal performance when you want it. And the back sliding out a little bit (until traction control kicks in) is rather fun when you have had a life time of front-wheel drives.

If I won the lottery I'd probably buy a GLA45 AMG :D

(and an aston martin)

(and a GL63 AMG)

Test drove the CLA45 AMG. Not a patch on the M235i for all-round enjoyment as far as I am concerned.

the RS3 is going to be ridiculously expensive. I dont see it coming here for less than 750k with the extra's etc
Im really hoping the focus RS comes in around 600k because I think its going to be a beast
