Hotspot hardware/software

Hi All

First of all sorry if this is in the incorrect thread but was not sure which one to put it in.

We are looking for a hotspot device/software

What we need to do is the following

We have various student locations/student accomodation

We offer them currently 1GB of data for free a month and once there data is finished then they need to buy a voucher to top up.

We are looking at getting rid of the current people that do it and manage everything in house. So we need to get hardware/software so that can monitor a student and once they have finished there 1GB of data they can top up from the office on site.(we have various locations) So looking for something rather urgently so we can test.

What needs to happen is when a student logs onto the internet they needs enter credentials of some sort(pref there student number) and then it gives them access to the net and once there data is complete it will throw out a message to say there data is finished and they can purchase more from the office at Rx Amount per GB. We can not lock it to Mac address as some students will use there phones/tablets to log in as well and it needs to use the same data.

If can help and send me in the correct direction direction for what we should get it would be great as I want to setup a test environment at our Head Office and see how well it works.

There many software solutions and hardware

But want to comment on the lock to Mac Address, there is solutions where you can have multiple Mac address'es to one account, and cache those Mac Address's like a phone or laptop to use data form one account. Sort of like what Telkom offer on their Wifi with a secondary Mac Address. You can use a RADIUS solution for this. So don't write off that option. Also great for students that don't have to login all the time.

You say that there is plenty hardware/software out there. Do you know of any? RADIUS is an option but how do I go about setting it up?
