House break in in Centurion

There was a house break in around the corner from where I live today. Broad daylight.

3 young guys broke into a house. Must have done something serious. Small army of police with a chopper driving and flying about...

Interesting to see how they use the chopper to push grass flat in the small river here to look for the suspects...

Must say the police and community safety presence was impressive and it is good to see the community working together so closely with police!

Yes antowan! I know you don't live in Alexandra, but jimmy has a point. Why can't you make an effort to go and ask them and keep us updated.

Fook guys what's happening here? This is going to scew the crime stats!
 
A woman reported her car stolen the other day at Checkers in Wynberg, Cape Town.. I was impressed by the police's response to the incident. 7 cop cars rushed to checkers - more saturated the area. the car was recovered in one piece 3 hours later.

The Wynberg SAPS managed to get my car back for me in 1 piece as well after it was stolen September last year. I take my hat off to these guys.. I've called them almost a dozen times in the past 2 years - every time they responded with a sense of urgency, and helped out as much as possible - even for a geyser that was stolen.. :o

They even caught the culprit that stole our geyser 3 days later!
 
You guys are very harsh on the cops, believe it not they do tons of work to catch criminals who are then released on bail or pay for the evidence to get lost. It must be a pretty hard task trying to catch criminals in the first place and then the effect it must have watching them walk on 500 rand bail or somehow the evidence you collected is gone must be devastating to the cops.

So don't blame the cops the whole time for our bad crime stats, blame the corrupt system in my opinion.

Yip.. these guys will steal anything for tik money.. especially copper!

A friend of mine owns 6 apartments in an apartment block he was renovating, which I was staying in one - we were woken up by the sound of water gushing from the top floor flat early in the morning. I went to investigate and found the front door broken open and the geyser torn apart and pipes bust.. Water everywhere!

Not a good start to a Monday morning!

Agreed!

In my personal experience, the SAPS have always been superb at their job.. it's the prison overcrowding and over-flooded justice system that lets us down most of the time.
 
I don't understand why more people don't keep dogs.

My boy went mental a night or two ago and I heard something in the garden... look, it could have been a cat or mongoose (I have seen both there in the past) but even a medium sized cats steps sound like that of a large animal on dead leaves in the dead of night.

I remember what a cop told me once after rushing to the aid of a friend who had woken up with some burglars in her room. He said that a dog, even a small one is the absolute best way to avoid burglary, specifically when you are in the house as a barking dog alerts the owners and the owners get their guns... burglars know this and fear it.

I once read a study in which they interviewed dozens of criminals, most of them agreed that the thing they are worry about the most is a small dog in the house. They are not really bothered with high fences or electrical fences.
 
This is why my two boys sleep next to my bed at night....

I pity any poor sod who thinks he can get near me...

1x Bull Terrier and 1x Black labrador... ok granted the Lab will probably hide behind me, but the Bull Terrier will not be so kind to the invader...
