When putting in a ceiling on our covered patio, we removed an extractor fan the previous owner had installed which actually did nothing except make noise. I kept the power line that this was connected to and fed it out through the new ceiling with the idea of using it for a light fitting.

Would it be ok to use this for lights? I know the light circuit breakers on the db board are not connected to earth as lights typically have only live and neutral, but is there any reason I can't use this line for a ceiling light fitting?

To solve the problem of no light switch I will use one of those wireless receivers from QwikSwitch. I already have another two-button switch transmitter on another light close enough that has one unused button.

yes its fine ,just label the c/b correctly ,and you can mark inside the lamp fitting where its fed from .ac circuits in SA can supply any item up to the limit of the c/b.if its only one item on that circuit breaker consider fitting a c/b with a rating suitable for the device .that looks like 1 mm norse so 10 amp is fine .where the cable enters the fitting make sure you use a compression gland .that will be a Number 0 .
