So here's my situation my dad watches alot of online tv. So chows the bandwidth. I am currently on Afrihost 50gb. and one day alone he used up 6gb. We thinking of getting him a 1mb uncapped and the rest will use the 50gb. I know I can set up my router to bridge mode but then I wont be able to use WiFi. Any Solutions?

So you tried making a PPPOE connection on your dads pc?

Also can't you set your router to do PPPOE connections then wifi has no problems.

Get an uncapped account?

Seriously, they aren't that expensive. You'll get far more peace of mind and it is less effort.

Make sure you get from a decent ISP, like Openweb or Plugg. Avoid mweb like the plague.

My suggestion is dump the 50GB capped account and get an uncapped account.

How do I make a PPPoE on a pc?

If i set my router to PPPoE it only takes 1 account.

I dont get uncapped because it gets shaped alot, I have been with Openweb, not the greatest...

Set your router to half bridged mode, and set your 50GB account on the router.
Set up the other account on the PC using PPPoE

Sorted.

My router can setup in 3 different modes.
1. PPPoE
2.IP over Ethernet
3.Bridging

Okay so ive tried PPPoE connection on the router and entered my 50gb account onto it.
Went to my dads pc and tried connecting it to the uncapped account and it kept saying cannot connect error 651.

Does that mean my router cant do half bridging?

Probably.

I have a TPlink 4 port adsl2+ router, cost me R220 or so at PCInt... It does it fine as far as I can remember.

Nevermind Thanks guys I got it to work, I just have to enable half bridge mode while setting up the PPPoE connection!:D

Another thing once I have done that the pc is still connected to the 50gb account, how would I disconnect from it?

Can't not the way you want it. so just make so it dials that connection when ever he goes onto the internet. Or just tell him to do so.

What account did you have?

If you got the cheapest of course you'll get shaped a lot. I hardly get shaped on my Gold account though.

Also I hear shaping isn't an issue at Afrihost.
