Seeing that there are already complains about bad signal in the areas which are supposed to be covered and current unavailabity for a modem from Cell C which supports external main antenna (which can rectify such issues), how about if Cell C starts offering signal test before you buy? Yesterday I ask at a Cell C shop if they can come and do signal test at my place and they refused. Paying R350 during the 7 days return period is bad option. R350 is a lot of money just to be able to test your signal. iBurst is offering signal test before you buy, why can't Cell C offer the same? Or at least full money return for 24 hour period after you buy the package.

Good option, but can be hard for a company to organise, as they could receive thousands of requests.

If you have any friends who have purchased it, invite them over for coffee with the speedstick and test it out.

I'm sure I can make a plan but that's not the point. A serious company should have an offer like this in place and not to rely on borrowing a modem from friends to test.

Get a pay as you go card and load R10 and use a compatible phone or stick to test! So you can safe the R350

yip. i got a payg card when they were offering them free a few months back.
most other huwaei modems and 3g tetherable handsests shoud be umts 900 compatible, just not necessarily up to 21mbps, but that's not necessary to test coverage...

And than they would crank up the prices to make up the shortfall like any othr company, Which is the lesser of 2 evils?

Biggest problem for CellC is the single tower coverage! I'm in Houghton and Killarney Mall is the single 3G point.
Speed is great, but Friday tower was down. Only connection is EDGE and it is SLOWWWWWWW!
I can see some other tower with -105dB signal. This is not enough to connect.
Killarney is with -77-71dB and this is perfect. BTW - each 6dB is 2 times signal level up.
So CellC have to cower areas with at least double number of towers or to make agreement for the 3G Roaming with others mobile providers.
