Hey there

How bad could the damage be? I recently droped my nikon D40 and cracked the lcd screen, after testing to see if it worked, my little angel took pix perfectly except for the tiny viewing problem. Recently I was out on a shoot and when I came back to load the pix onto my pc not all of them came out, some were perfect but the others were nothing more than a purple smudge with tiny bits of evidence of the things I was taking pictures of. I have to send it off to JHB to have it fixed..but how bad do you reckon it is?

what has happened to me before with dropped electronics is hairline cracks on the PCB. This caused the device to behave quite erratically (most likely due to capacitance and resistance changes).

Tough luck with the camera dude.

Hope it was insured. :o

replacing lens? So you would reckon that its not the body? I'm sending it off to JHB tomorrow to the Nikon service center, will keep you guys upto date with whats for what. But thank you for the input, guess I'll have it insured as soon as its back in working condition...God willing that is

Replacing the lens will be expensive,as thats your only option :)
good luck
Not sure there is anything wrong with the lens.

Pity you're not located in PE - there is an ex-nikon technician here that is apparently brilliant.
