How busy are the local cs source servers?

Ok, this is probably a stupid question, but I have only ever played cs like once or twice and I see that steam is having a 66% off sale on cs source so I think I'm gonna take it but only if there's lots of guys playing locally.

EDIT: Don't you need half life 2 before purchasing cs source :confused:
 
Eish, who is still playing CSS on-line?
Thought it is only reserved for drunken LAN's for some light entertainment :)
 
I still play every now and then, but only on the Gun Game Server. I can manage about 2 maps or so before I lose concentration or feel tired in the evenings. You really have to be wide awake to play the Gun Game as it is sooo faast.
Played on Dashur the other night as the Gun Game Server is down with a lot of other servers since the Stream Update, but grew tired of the AWP Campers and Flash Bangs and left after half a map.

There was a Steam update this week and many of the servers are still not back up yet? Also my colour models don't work any more, ai ai ai, maybe I should commit this game to the deep now. All my other CS friends left the game years ago.

Sorry but what's 'gun game'?

Are the servers on the games.saix.net site the only local ones or are there more?

Also, will I be able to play alright on a 384 adsl?
 
Can we get a list of servers up on mybb? I had a look at wage servers yesterday and nobody was online...

There is a thread on the steam forums. Supposedly they have stopped the mods or something for CSS.

Stevo you must try it! It is one of the CS Mods.
Basically it is like a death match where upon death you instantly respawn, but the difference is you start off with a Glock and go through the hand guns, then the sub machine guns, then the Shot Guns and so on and so forth until ending with the AWP then the hand grenade and finally the knife. In each instance of weapon change you have to kill three people before you advance to the next weapon. If you can kill someone with the knife they lose a level and you gain a level. The final level with the knife requires great skill and cunning in killing three people and when this happens you will be the winner and the map will change and you start again with the glock.

Currently the Gun Game Server is down. Look for it when you refresh your server list. With the Steam Update it will take some time before all the servers are back online. Don't have the IP now. If you want it send me a PM and I will send you the IP when it is up again.

Nothing wrong with 384 ADSL. The latency is the same for all version of ADSL as far as I know.

When I used to play CS with 384k line, I could not hit anything and my latency was always around 60. Now its about 28 - 30 with a 4mb line, but hit registration is a lot better. However, there is something fundamentally wrong with CSS's online play..

Due to a certain series of events I wasn't home in time to make use of the special anyway :(

If only I remembered my steam username + pass then I could've purchased it through the website yesterday but the damn site only allows you to "forgot password" in the steam client :mad:

Oh well, I bought it now and some discount is better than no discount.

So who will be willing to add me as a friend and play some rounds? Note: I'm a real noob :)
