How can i get built in 3G to work?

Hi there,

I have received a new Acer travelmate 5730 laptop which comes with built in 3G ...up to now being using the USB E220 modem with VCM lite software to connect to the NET.

I know where the sim card goes ( under battery ) but without using the VCM software how can i connect up? Dont see any software for the 3G and tried putting that number in at the new connection.

Anyone knows how this works ? It's like a Monday for me

If you look under Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, you should see the 3G Modem listed. Select it, click Properties and under Advanced, Extra Init Commands enter at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet"

Now create a new Internet Connection (Control Panel, Network Connection) using the new 3G modem.

Now start the new Internet connection and in the phone number enter *99#. No username or password are required.

You should now be connected
