The thing you should remember is this .. everyone has some career goal or objective. When people do shoddy jobs, handover responsibility to others they basically asking to be removed from work and they giving you exactly whats needed to do it. Remember at the end of the day make sure you take responsibility for work done(good or bad) and you will see it will pay off.. worse case you have more experience than anyone else.
Yep, sounds like me. Call a spade a spade. I've been told that I'm brutally honest - I see it as a compliment. Don't tell people what they want to hear, tell them what they need to know. If the truth hurts, fsck 'em.You need to speak up and make yourself heard. Communication skills are way more valuable than anything else. Don't be a ass licker but tell it like it is in terms of what needs to be done, implications of not doing it your way and budget. Don't be an ass about it and attack the person but fault your oppositions logic. If there is one thing in life I cannot stand it's BS, I have no tolerance for it. I dunno how many times I have been told by superiors that I don't suffer fools and should tone it down a bit but at the end of the day they still respect your opion and you are the guy they come to when the pawpaw hits the fan. Don't compromise is what I'm trying to say. When you fsckup own up to it and find a solution.
That has worked for meYep, sounds like me. Call a spade a spade. I've been told that I'm brutally honest - I see it as a compliment. Don't tell people what they want to hear, tell them what they need to know. If the truth hurts, fsck 'em.
EDIT: and learn to market yourself without being overbearing.
