How can Vista 32 ultimate see 4 gigs of ram?
I thought the limit was 3.5?

Includes graphics card memory.

Or part of an update that tells you how much memory you have, but of course it doesn't all get used.

They changed it with sp1, vista now reports the ram correctly but still can't use more than 3.5 or something similar in the 32 bit version.

Was mainly a cosmetic change by Microsoft to soothe consumers who couldn't understand why that despite having 4 or more GB ram, Vista was only using 3-3.5GB of it.

go to task manager and select the preformance tab and it reports the physical memory there.

What I don't get - I've just installed vista 64, and while it reports as being 4gb, the task manager only shows 3.3 usable.
