Have you wondered what Mzansi parents are calling their newborns?

Stats SA on Thursday revealed the most common names for babies born in 2018.

Among over 1-million babies that were registered, boys were mostly named Enzokuhle, which translates loosely as “do well”. Second most popular was Lethabo, loosely translated to “the joy”, and third was Melokuhle, loosely translated to “stand for what is good”.

Our names are passed from generation to generation according to a set of rules therefore, not very common. No offence to some but there are names not considered "adult" names. These names are ditched at some point in favour of the inherited name. That practice is slowly losing momentum however.

Enzo is a bad-ass name at least.

Same in our family, I’m proud on that, but yes seems younger people don’t care anymore.

Same go with research the family tree.

Babies carry the names their parents give them for life.

Cruel sometimes the choices parents make.

Some examples would be great?
I always found this somewhat fascinating
