How Cool Ideas beat a "zombie attack"

Cool Ideas recently experienced a series of DDoS attacks which had a severe effect on the quality of its network.

Customers reported connectivity issues for the extent of the attack periods, and Cool Ideas was hard-pressed to implement DDoS mitigation and defend their network.

Cool idea Cool Ideas

They may have been slow to respond, but the email that they sent yesterday was pretty descent in explaining everything IMO.

Glad they tending to this and just standing out above others.
Love my cool ideas connection

Better still all the usual reform school rejects in the CI threads have either retreated back under their respective bridges (nothing to say when they can’t hide behind others), or cancelled with CI; making the user community 100% more pleasant a place to be as well.

Pity the other ISP with threads on here, when these "clients" arrive at the end of the billing month.

Somehow it just seems like a poor show that the internet hasn't learned how to negate the prospect of DDoS attacks yet.

100% if you read one of the write-ups you will see that an "improvement" to DNS infrastructure; "poorly implemented" to be fair; enabled this class of attack.
Old adage the road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that.

The real question we should be asking here is not "How do DDoS attacks work?". but rather "Who did Cool Ideas manage to piss off enough to become a target?"

Or rather, who stands to benefit the most from Cool Ideas going out of business?
Indeed.

Same as with CW when they started being serious competition / taking clients away from other ISP's.

Which of the ISP's have been caught out cheating at surveys, have dubious business practices and would stand to lose the most to decent / competent / professional competition......
