I guess if the indunas are stealing big, the impis need to steal little.
 
what Africa needs to learn is that eventually they are going to get left behind to fend for themselves while the rest of the world advances in technology. medicine will never improve here and communications will be slow. there will one day be flying cars...and well, the people of Africa will be staring up at the cars in awe...

Don't for one minute think it bothers the leaders. Do you think Mugabe feels left behind in any way? With his US$50 million palace and what not other luxuries he has at his beg and call..... Zuma with Nkandla, and this goes for the rest of the leaders and or elite on this continent.


So no, it does not bother them for a single minute. On the contrary, the longer we stay 'behind' the longer they can live the life they are living. So don't think they are stupid, they are actually miles ahead of the rest.
 
Since many projects span several wards, companies were forced to keep hiring new locals for each leg of the project.

one way to look at it, i guess. but eventually first world investors will start ignoring Africa...and after time, everything will start breaking. the leaders will care then.

look at eskom, it's not asking Africa for loans...it's getting it from the UN and EU.

I would agree, but it seems the leaders know something we don't. Investors aren't doing us much favour by sticking around or coming back for more. Talk is cheap - why do foreigners still want to mine in this country after the most recent shena****ns?

do they? i did hear about some possible oil exploration recently, but nothing more than that.
 
I have a few friends in SE Asian countries and am routinely shocked & humilated when they describe their broadband speeds at dirt cheap prices, with some public places, even for free! Yes, as one poster pointed out the black leaders don't care a damn for their people, except how they can whore their votes!
Telkom is also no longer replacing stolen cable instead they're conning ex-clients to take their very expensive mobile Huawei ETS6630 solution. They make more money out of this than with existing cabled networks; so I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they was something deeper behind these cable thefts!

The same exploitation and violent threats exist whenever you try do work in poor regions dominated by corrupt councilors.

I assisted a Japanese study team north of Pretoria where people were only getting water 2 out of 7 days a week because of councilor interference, but when they study team wanted to carry out social surveys they were told, in no uncertain terms, that if they didn't employ "locals only" their study would be cut short.

This intimidation tactic came from the same councilors who condone brick making and car wash businesses and ensure that water is diverted to these backyard businesses 24/7

Africa, are you really this useless? Africans, stand up and help build your lives. Communities, get together and protect those that help you rise.

Contractors, place ads and distribute pamphlets, (perhaps even hire a good advertising company that can create the "campaign") detailing these problems mentioned in these articles, weeks before entering an area. Get the whole community involved. Make the start of the project an uplifting theme, where every meter of progress is celebrated, where every person in the ward knows that their future is being destroyed and that they are a crucial part of the process of upliftment.

Africa will never learn. The same old scenario where the chief sells out the population for a few shiny thinkets from the invaders have been playing out over & over again over the millenia, nothing has and nothing about this will ever change.

Yip, the Chinese know this as well and they will take everything.
Regarding this, I think if the people where educated enough to know what was being taken away from them they might come together but I doubt it.
