The car is clearly not from Germany as the plate states because the steering wheel is on the right (correct) side.

You have found one of the BMW launch cars.

This model was launched to the press a couple of weeks ago, and there are several running around on these plates. They will then be shipped back to Germany and sold to the UK AFAIK, or simply registered here and sold as a demo.
 
Yep, those are definitely Munich plates. They go around the world to be tested/reviewed etc I think?
 
I saw 3 of these cars with these plates last weekend in Cape Town. Should have taken some pics but couldn't stop. They were parked at the waterfront and at first thought they were for a movie being filmed in Cape Town?

After taking the pics I did think what if that was a launch car because BMW has the tendency to have some heavies rough up unauthorized picture snappers. But they would never have caught me in my awesome baby blue Corsa ;)
The guy driving it did seem to have some fun because at one point we drove pas some sprinklers and it did spray quite heavily on him, all he did was just wave his arms in the air as if to invite more spray. Why didn't I get a job like that ? :cool:

Those drive around with D plates. The German ones are "D *** 041 D" I think. Each number (041) represents a different countries' embassy.

I highly doubt that. Especially not on public roads. If an employee takes pre-launch spy pics then he'll be in serious trouble though.
 
Nope - I love them and they have stayed true to the BMW styling DNA. Even the ones designed by Chris Bangle is clearly and distinctly BMW.

If you ever see a car and wonder if it is ugly, just think of the Renault Vel Satis :

nope sorry the original Fiat Multipla takes the cake ;) (not gonna post photo's since there was a thread about it recently, and that nearly made me puke a little as it is)...

I am with you on this one, that Renalt Vole Shytis is damn ugly, but Multipla still beats it, imo.
