Just been reading that it is a good idea to have a backup of my website. Aside from the backup that Hetzner, who host the website, have.

Problem is, I cannot find how to do it. Thanks for the help. :)

Just ftp into your web server and copy all the files to your computer. You'll also need to backup your sql databases. You probably have phpmyadmin installed, so just use that to export your databases onto your computer.

Phew! Lost me there. Please translate.:confused:
PS I can access my website to make changes..

How do you access your website? through FTP? A web-based file editor?
Do you know if your website uses MySQL or any SQL databases?

Copy your website onto your computer using FTP a FTP client I will recommend is FileZilla and if your website is using a database it will most probably be a MySQL database so you can use the MySQL front end phpMyAdmin.

But Hetzner should have given you a login into a control panel like cPanel or something similar. So you should be able to get a backup of your website and database from the control panel, or maybe try their support centre.

Regards,

Hi Londo,

I'm pretty sure their konsoleH control panel should have a backup system in place to compress your files and dump your database data.

If they don't, then do as above - download your files via FTP and use your SQL manager to backup your SQL database (s).

I haven't used their control panel before, so I am assuming they have those functions.
