How Do I Boost My HP Elitebook 2540p?

Hi guys, I have a HP Elitebook 2540p, 2.13 core i 7 processor, 8gb RAM, 250gb SSD but sometimes it's performance when am using it for video editing can make someone doubt the specs. please help...

You bought a 14" notebook and is surprised that it struggles when you use it for video editing?

Seriously, where do you expect the heat to go when using it for intensive applications? It's got fans that moves about as much air an asthmatic cat, so the hardware gets down turned, to stop it burning out. Also, that processor is a couple of gen old.

Learn to live with it or sell it and buy a desktop, with a proper GFX and no down rated processor.

That is the lower voltage processor in the first place. Should've asked before you bought dude.

If you haven't done it already, I'd suggest cleaning out the fan and heatsink and replacing the thermal paste, as well as buy a notebook cooler stand. Those notebook-bound Westmere mobile processors were made with very low TDPs, and they can be made to max the thermal levels out pretty quickly. The 640LM is also roughly equivalent to a Core i3 processor with very low clock speeds, as it only has two cores with hyper-threading, so video editing won't be spectacular.

It would help if you can tell us what you're trying to do, exactly. 720p and 1080p video should be doable on that system, but anything like 1440p or higher is a no-go.

Thanks guys for your comments, what messes me up mostly is I've tried capturing video with it from the editing software but it buffers so bad. Any software that can help out keep the machine fast during work, logging on/out, burning DVDs, any suggestions please?
