How do I buy roaming data?

Long story short, going to UK
want to buy roaming data.

MTN notices everywhere say "check the app" or *136#

The MTN app has no option for roaming data bundles and *136# just constantly spits out "there are currently no roaming data bundles available for purchase" when I follow *136# 1-0-12-2

The mtn online shop seems to just constantly spit out a PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR on any browser/device/connection I use.

Watch out for the roaming monster, or is that even still a thing?

Remember how mobile ISP's used to pull the million dollar golden egg out the hapless ducks' arse with their astronomical roaming rates, bankrupting peeps for just checking email once a day?

If that thing bites it might just be cheaper to buy yourself a dual sim, or a second phone instead.

But how long are you going for?

A few days....turn on International Roaming.

A few weeks...get local SIM and change the number in your OTP banking settings.

So, R1/mb, which probably isn't the worst, but it's easy to spend a lot of money...

Whenever I travel, I get a local sim, and just switch sims when I need an OTP.
Or even take a second, old phone with if you really want constant access to your old number.

I made the mistake of turning on my phone in London, mobile data was on for a very short time downloaded 300meg of emails and WA's that was sent during the flight, came back to SA and had a bill for R650 for roaming data usage waiting for me.

Since then I make use of GiffGaff and use their data bundles when in UK.

OTP, if this is for your banking, change it to email? I lost my phone and just changed my OTP to email.

Push notification? Do push notifications require a number?
