Any idea how to cancel Vodacom contracts? I would probably have to fax a letter to them? I really don't want to spend an hour on the phone trying to convince someone to give me the details. Any help would be appreciated. (I would really appreciate it if someone could just delete me off their system :D )

Unfortunately you have to phone their helldesk and ask them to cancel your contract. They will tell you to fax a signed letter in to them, explaining the cancellation.

Or you can also go to any Vodashop and ask for a cancellation notice.

Keep in mind you will have to be at the end of your contract before cancelling it, or else you'll be due for some penalties for early cancellation.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go the Vodashop route. It's difficult to put someone on hold in person (not impossible though).

Brace yourself for a number of calls from 'consultants' trying to convince you not to cancel your contracts....

Cancelation

I did not make one phone call. I just submitted a query on their web site. They then informed me that I must email them my letter where I say I wanna cancel plus a copy of my ID to [email protected] . SO I wrote a letter and created a pdf and emailed that with a copy of my ID and the next day I received a sms saying that my cancellation request has been loaded.

I would aslo like to cancel my vodacom contract, did they charge you penalties for doing this?

If it's before 24 months, yes they do! If not, they just change it to prepaid & you keep the number...

I also want to cancel but I'm only 9 months into my 36 months data contract,I fear the penalty is going to be too much.

remove you number from your post rather sent a PM(private message) to VodacomData

(unless you REALLY don't like your number or want funky late night calls....)

You can also go into your closest Vodacom Shop and request that they migrate your number to prepaid.

PS: Had a look on your number. You have upgraded this number recently. Be prepared to pay the cancellation costs.

I Once spent 5 minutes waiting in a vodacom shop for service, plenty people around but mostly filling in contracts.

There were two people having a chat in the back office, I could see them through the open door.

I picked up a flier, dialed the number for the shop that was on the flier and watched one of the guys in the back office pick up the phone.
I asked him to look to his right then waved at him, instant service :)

The penalty is basically the remaining months subscription fee plus whatever you owing on calls and data.
They email you a letter with the total costs which you have to sign and return along with a copy of your I'd and a payed Standard Bank deposit slip.
I don't know how it works for TopUp contracts though.

Cancelling a data contract

I want to know if it is possible to cancel my Advance 1Gig data contract which is costing me around R 350 p.m. ?

I want to get the promotion for the 2GB +2GB for R149 p.m. instead
