I have just got ADSL for the first time, and use Cybersmart. I then also got another acount today from openweb for local bandwidth.

My modem/router has been set up by Cybersmart before delivery.

I now have a Openweb username and password, but I have no idea as to how to switch between the 2 acounts.

I want to use the Openweb acount for BF2 and then in the morning I need to activate the Cybersmart acount.

I have a Billion Wireless G modem, but I use cable to connect to it and not wireless.

I also read the other thread of using Routesentry, but after downloading the files it seems a bit too much for me to handle. So I dont mind to switch manually in the mean time between accounts.

Someone said I just have to change my username and password on the router settings, but how do one do that?

Oh, and will BF2 work on a local account only. (on the SGS Server)???

thanx

jd

BF2 needs to log you on, and logging you on requires access to their internationally hosted server.
Some ISP's allow local accounts to access the authentication server, but I don't know which ones, and they're not telling us.

Route sentry is not that difficult, let us know the router you're using and we can take you through the steps.

The trickiest part is setting your router to bridge mode, though some routers can do bridge mode no problemmo without being configured to do it.

To test if the router requires bridge mode configuration, do the following:
1 - Create a new dialup connection [My Network Places (Right Click) -> Properties], New Connection Wizard]
2 - Type = Connect to the internet [next]
3 - Setup Maually [next]
4 - Broadband Connection that requires username and password [next]
5 - type in some name here to help you identify the connection
6 - type in the username and password
7 - deselect the 2 checkboxes [next]
8 - click on add a shortcut to desktop [finish]

Then, find the connection on the desktop and open it [double click], if it connects, then your router can handle bridge mode without being configured, and we can move on to the rasppoe step.

Stoke. Thanx very much. Ijust need to go and see a client quickly and when I get back I am gonna follow the steps one by one.

The Router is a Billion BiPAC 7300G 802.11g ADSL2+

Ok. I did all that. ..... (thanx for explaining it easy enough like you did)

I get the following .... Error 678: The remote computer did not respond.

My question is, must I disconnect the Cybersmart account before trying to connect the Openweb one. I tried it but still no luck....?

Connecting 2 pcs with separate accounts to 1 router

Hi folks

My setup was my son has his PC in his bedroom and my PC in my study with the router - both pc's connected to the router via cable (Ethernet).

He opended his account first and this is configured on the router to be always on. I then opened my own account and did the following - changed from PPPOE to PPPOE with Pass Through on the router thus allowing a manual "dial-up" connection. I then installed NetVoyager on my PC and manually connect to my account that way. We can both connect to our own accounts at the same time - minimum fuss and bother.

If anyone knows of a more elegant way - let me know.

Remember - Cybersmart is going to have a conniption if they find out.

Thats why I phoned and asked them first before I subscribed with them. They told me it is fine...... as long as I dont hassle them with support to help set up routesentry etc etc.... not their problem I guess...

I got everything going last night. Even got the setting to put modem in bridge mode. I now have 2 icons on my desktop that I use. One for Cybersmart and one for Openweb.

NEXT is to try and get routesentry working. My problem is that I have 3 PC's in my home office. And after creating the 2 icons for the 2 acounts, now all of a sudden I dont have internet on the other 2 PC's........??????
