This friend of mine installed WinXP on existing XP wihtout creating a new partition. The XP disk he used is a distribution to new PCs only version. So it didn't update or reinstalled XP but somehow installed it on top of the existing one, or shared some files. When you reboot the PC it gives two options to boot to but both are "Windows XP professional" (identical). Choosing any of them loads different XPs, but, this has caused media player to malfunction and few other programs.
Here are my question..
1. There's only 1 partition (C drive only)... How's it possible for OS to run under one windows folder?
2. I edited the boot.ini file and renamed "windows XP professional" to "windows XP professional 1", when i boot both boot options are renamed, this then means for both XPs installed there's only one boot.ini file,,, again
I think the only way to fix this is to format the whole drive and reinstall...
