So I need to get my personal home page up for myself since next year I am done with my masters. Just a basic page just reveals my personal, academic, and work expiriences for any prospective recruiter to see. This has prompted me to think about how I want my page to look like and function.

I want my page to function similarly to this especially the scroll actions, the "menu" slides up and then reveals further content "underneath"

How do I do this? is this a JS trick or CSS trick?

Thanks

Why cant you just look at the source and figure it out?Not attacking, just asking?

If you're looking for just a basic page about yourself, why not rather make use of a service like About.Me instead of building your own? Lots of page templates to choose from, less hassle to maintain it than your own?

As a busy guy I would prefer to be pointed in the right direction, saves me time. I am allowed to ask aren't I?

Would prefer to build it myself. I mean lets be honest. It will be a pretty static web page. Theres not much in the way of maintainance really.

You just contradicted yourself there? You are allowed to ask, the way you worded it seems like you have a masters in Web dev, thats why i asked why cant you figure it out.

Setting up a 100% fleshed out profile on LinkedIn will probably be worth a lot more than a personal page. That way you will show up in recruiter searches etc, which will not be the case for a personal page.

Be careful with personal web pages when looking for a job, they can be hard to balance between showing skills and coming over as very egotistical.

You're doing your masters and you cant do this.... i hope not in comp sci.

I would actually be worried if he did learn how to do this as part of his degree. One is supposed to learn fundamentals as part of a degree, rather than specific technologies and tricks. For the specifics, there is always Google.

Parallax Webdesign.

You can get it in HTML/CSS and also PHP.

Plenty templates all over the web. just have to look in the right places...

thats like saying, "you need to use a pen to make writing show up on a piece of paper, or you can use your hand", which of course is untrue.

please understand the technologies that you use.

Why bother? Just set up a decent LinkedIn account and that will get you a lot more attention than a website.
