Yup. Was a complete stuffup. They even got all the details wrong, so I was getting alerts about high-g-force events on my car 50km away from where it was parked. SHAT myself.

There are three screws on the unit. Disconnect car battery. Remove positive wire from tracker unit and tape it up properly.

I pulled the entire unit and harness out

It is a bit unfair to blame the tracking company.

The connection is totally up to the installer.
