How do I know BIS is definitely working?

Ok ok I know this was asked here and there on a few threads but thought we should have an official thread for this question to discuss further.

From what I gather if the GPRS logo at the top right is in CAPS then the phone is using BIS. But then when I go to www.youtube.com it shouldn't be using BIS. Im prompted something about WAP. Ok read that somewhere too. So to be expected.

But the thing is while downloading / watching a youtube video the browser still says GPRS in CAPS! So is the CAPS thingie just a rumour or is it really true?
 
Well from my experience when the GPRS is not in caps I can't send BBMs which use the BIS network and when I re-send the message in the Host Routing Table and the icon changes to caps it works again. I dont use youtube on my phone so I wouldn't be able to tell you of it switching to wap or not
 
When the EDGE/GPRS is in capitals yes you are using BIS, BUT when streaming audio/video you will be charged via the normal channels check your airtime if you are pre paid or wait for the shock when you get your bill come month end.

I get YOUTUBE on EDGE. with MTN and it works fine just cost if you don't have a data bundle.
 
I can't believe someone was offended by my remark that was clearly intended as friendly humour when the PD threads are FULL of personal attacks.
