How do I log a dispute with SARS?

Hello everybody,

My ITA34 reflected an X amount which was payable by 2018-11-30. It also included a balance on my assessed account for a Y amount. (I found it strange because I’ve never missed a payment or even underpaid on the amounts due.)
Anyways, after paying the X amount SARS send me an SMS threatening with legal action if I do not pay the full balance on my account.

I’ve given up on calling the SARS Contact Centre who advised me to obtain statement of account from SARS through eFiling which shows a zero balance.

I’d appreciate any advice, or can I safely ignore SARS threat?
 
One thing I've learnt from bitter personal experience is NEVER ignore a SARS threat. Eventually they'll just institute a garnishee (excuse the spelling) order and get their ill-gotten gains anyway and then you'll spend 6 months trying to get it cancelled after you've got the letter stating you're paid up. To add insult to injury they'll take their sweet time refunding you for the over payment.

Anyway, with regards to lodging a dispute, you can usually click on the Dispute button that appears when you view your statement of account on efiling. You will then need to enter your own amounts for the various income and expenses.

Sorry for the vague response, but I've got a blind spot when it comes to finance/accounting and I can't really remember the exact sequence I followed when I lodged a dispute about 3 years ago.
 
The amounts on my assessment are correct. I have no idea where the deficit comes from. :(
 
Make sure you use internet explorer . The statement of accounts can show zero on chrome
 
The other thing SARS can do is to instruct your bank to pay them the outstanding amount directly out of your bank account. Happened to me once in a similar situation and it took 6 months to get a refund back from SARS.

This. Happened to a friend, and to add insult to injury they took double the amount of the entire year due rather than the outstanding couple of hundred rand, so he was in quite an overdraft for a few months that he ended up paying interest for as SARS just ignored taking any blame for their mistake.

That doesn't inspire any confidence in SARS. :(
