My notebook has WLAN and is running XP.
My desktop is connected via LAN and is running Vista.

How do I setup a network so I can access shared files on both PC's?

What do you mean your desktop is connected via LAN? What is it connected to via LAN?

you should already be able to see the shared folders... at least in XP... Vista... I dunno.

What i do know is if it via lan make sure your ip is set on automatic on the xp machine. From there its a uphill struggle.Good luck:rolleyes:

Right click on Computer (my computer on xp) and select properties. Make sure at the computer name/network settings that both systems are on the same Workgroup.

Right click on any folder, click sharing or share and share the files and folders you would like. Click network in Vista and browse the notebook to see the folders. Open networking in XP and browse Workgroup computers to see the files and folders on the desktop.

Make sure if you have a software firewall that file sharing is enabled, as well as in network centre in Vista.

;)

And we weren’t sure about the spelling, but we decided that we don’t care how it’s spelled.
