How do I stop automatic Facebook logins?

A while ago I signed up on Facebook for a reason which is no longer valid, and I now have no need to access it. But when I look at my browser's History I see that it is logging in and staying logged in every single day. I can't seem to track down where to stop this happening -- it's not an easily recognisable Service in my (W7) Task Manager, nor does it seem to be a setting in my browser (Opera).

Any idea how I stop this?

I'll give that a try, thanks! Will let you know how it goes.... But to be honest I thought cookies for a particular site were only accessed when you opened the URL appropriate to that cookie -- which is obviously not happening in my case because the browser is logging on without me physically going anywhere near a Facebook page, all by its little self. ???

I see this in Opera as well (don't really use other browsers, so can't comment on them). Perhaps it accesses the cookies from partner sites that interface with FB?

Ok, tried it, didn't work -- I'm still being logged on to Facebook automatically soon after I go online. I suppose the ultimate solution is to sign off from Facebook entirely if there are no other viable suggestions. That of course would mean I'm blocked if at any future stage I DO want to contribute to the original page I signed up for but no longer want to access regularly.

When you log in, just un-tick the little "Keep me logged" in box. No problems then. You just need to use the Opera Wand to log in when you need to access your page. I use Opera... and have no problems...

Also, if Facebook is a speed-dial link, it might log you in when you launch Opera if you have previously ticked the "Keep me logged in" option.

Actually it's worse now! That didn't work, so I actually unsubscribed from Facebook -- but their unsubscribe page sticks on the 'Confirm' button and I'm still being logged in, can't unsubscribe, can't get off the blerry thing! Now I understand why Facebook has such a poor reputation....

I have no problem with Opera and Facebook at all. None.

Very strange.

Okay, in desperation I have now deleted my account entirely while the daily logins continue, though the automatic response says it will take 14 days to take effect (What???). Here's hoping this works....
