As my telkom ADSL contract nears its end, I am starting to wonder, if it would be worth my while going for Wireless, the only benifits I know of is the fact that its wireless and that uploading is faster, so it it really worth the $. and who would you rate the best ISP

Thanks

Well I'm on probably the best Wireless package there is right now (Iburst G9), and I'm seriously considering moving over to ADSL. If I were you I would stay put.

How good is sentech ?

The only thing sentech has (had) going for it is (was) the high cap (up to 40Gb).

The service is crap, the speeds erratic at best, and reception spotty.

Now sentech is busy eliminating their only advanatage (the high cap).

Stick to ADSL or possibly Iburst - or maybe by some miracle the SNO will give us affordable broadband before we're too old to use it.....................

What service ?

1.) The call center doesnt pickup the phone and when they do the person on the other side cant either be heard or doesnt know whats going on does the left hand know what the right hand is even doing ?

2.) They got some motor machanic answering the phone on the other side who takes u for being some stupid user and asks u the same questions over and over again (what is your signal strength what firmware version do u have blablablabla) even tho they know where the problem is.

3.) We get no feedback from them as a company no news letters nothing we are like mushrooms keep us in the dark and feed us ****, no company/client relationship

4.) Borken promises left right and center they never call u back after logging a trouble ticket but the swear to u come hell or highwater that they would.

isnt there a way to get out of the contract, how long do you have to be without service to get out, anyone with some info please help.

Well, that happened to me, actually. My signal disappeared. After a couple of weeks with no signal, and begging them to reply to my emails, phoning them daily, they finally agreed to release me from my contract. The deals was this: I would have to pay an undisclosed amount for a cancellation fee plus two months notice period!!! My contract only had two months left!!!
As far as the service call for the signal's disappearance goes, they have still not come back to me on that....
I am no a quite happy adsl user.

Sentech isnt the thing to go for in terms of wireless. Iburst is pretty much the only thing worth considering, unless you have a good small WISP in your area, but they are mostly in Cape Town.

Also, upload isnt faster, not shure why you think that, infact it will be alot slower on Sentech and Iburst it could be faster, but not like it matters.

You should wait to see what Iburst come up with, if anything, then decide.

I've used Sentech for 2 years, of the two years it didn't work properly for around 2 years.

Yeah so NIL out of 10 for them. I'm cancelling end of this month and going with someone - anyone - else.

I'm surprised people are getting calls from Sentech - I thought they had no outgoing lines.

Has any ever in fact logged a query, fault , received a ref ( this is rarity ) and actually received the promised callback when the issue has been resolved ?

I'm wondering whether they have a keyboard sound clip playing in the background just to make you think they are actually taking down your details and number.

Yep, we were disconnected most of the day on Saturday, got a call back today to ask if we could connect.

Of all the problems I logged , someone always called me back to check if things were sorted.
