How do you convert from a camcorder to a PC?

Camcorder as in it records to tape?
I used to use my TV card and record it like that... It's quite a long procedure cos you have to play the video and it records it as it plays.

Someone asked something similar not so long ago. About converting VHS tapes to digital video...

Use Windows Movie Maker or VirtualDub to record it to your PC... but you need some kind of input device... like a USB video input or capture card.

Cool thanks for the input I'm waiting for the camcorder to arrive hopefully it will have firewire or usb.

What model is it?
I didn't know people still sold tape camcorders so mainstream. If yours records to a hard drive, it'll be in a digital format already so u just need to copy it over to your PC via the cable.

If is does record to tape, you won't be getting any USB/Fiberwire cables

If its a new one, chances are 100% that it will have firewire or usb.
