How do you kill the World Wide Web?

You dont think it would be enough to physically sever some of the major links and let congestion disable the rest?

You will have to take out most of the major links for that otherwise traffic will just be routed through the remaining (although very slow) links.

Then there are satellite as well

However the problem with this is that now (opposed to the past) each root server is a large cluster of machines aaaaaaaand that it wouldn't "truly" take down the internet but merely cripple dns making it appear down for the majority of users who don't know an ip address from their social security number.

a better solution would be to poison the root DNS servers with random IP addresses.
 
It would be nearly impossible. There is just too much redundancy built into the net. Take down one server and traffic is merely rerouted via another. The internet was built with no single point of failure, so no, there isn't one big building somewhere that houses it all, it's spread all over the world.

Lol, I dont think u guys remember in 2007 when the Internet died? A guy was loading so much stuff on his pc that the whole net crashed.... Its possible, its been done, but it very rarely happens. If im not mistaken, there was even a guy that was able to crash 14 servers that the world wide web was on, dont quote me on that, im not sure, but thats wat i heard...
