How do you split school holidays when you’re divorced?

Hi. There’s some confusion surrounding my situation and I’m just curious to understand how other people do it. My daughter is 6 and we’re splitting the March holidays between us.

When school closed on the 17th March, my ex kept our daughter (she primarily lives with her mother). I am not sure when I should get her (school opens on the 5th April again). There’s a bit of disagreeing going on about how it’s split and whether it includes weekends or not.

How do you split it generally? Do you count weekends? (normally we alternate weekends when it’s NOT school holidays).

When do I pick up my daughter and when do I drop her off again? Just curious about how other parents do this.

It's a 2 weeks (3 weekend) holiday.
1 week + 1 weekend = Parent 1
1 week + 1 weekend = Parent 2

Sound logical to me, but it all depends what you guys agreed in the co-parenting plan.

I'm not divorced, please take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

You basically have to understand were the kids would be happier during their fun time and decide according to that.

Divorce with kids is best when whatever is done is in the best interests of the kids.

This is tough to admit but I know she’s going to be more comfortable at her mothers. Maybe I could just ask for an extended weekend (3 days instead of the usual 2 nights or something so we can do something fun together) and let her be where she’s most comfortable.

Does make sense. Her mother is concerned about her ability to stay away from her for such a long time which is why there’s some disagreements coming up but I think I might need to yield and take the shorter stick so my daughter has a better time this holiday. She earned it with what she’s been through.
