Anyone in the know?
Myself (and I've discovered several others in the office) have RSI - we are at our desks all day and we do not have the best (or even good) seating arrangements, many people take to modifying their chairs in an attempt to have better posture. I've had to resort to going left handed because the pain is too much. Regardless, some of us are now sitting with RSI so I'm wondering is this something we can claim from workmans comp (it is after all an injury obtained via our normal work activities) and if so how the blue blazes do you do it? I see the health and safety rep is supposed to assist but he is clueless and that none of the courses said anything about claims. I've also checked the website of the DoL and that just leads to like a million forms  We're not looking for some huge payout, just to cover medical expenses.

Have you spoken to your employer about addressing the situation? I'm assuming it isn't only the chairs that's an issue...?

Boss man has been overseas for 3 weeks :/ Back next week afaik
In my instance though I had pain at the office, but at my home PC nothing. So something at home is better, whether it is just the chair or a combination of things I couldn't say. But my posture is for sure better at home, I mean most people have to take the arm rests off the chairs at the office otherwise you can't sit at the right height and you have a sore back all day.

Definitely get better chairs. Talk to the boss when he gets back.

Also take regular walk breaks and do some chair stretches, they help :)

Hmm, annoying. So the desks and chairs don't actually properly fit together?

To get RSI I'm assuming it has been an issue for way longer than 3 weeks...

You will need to go through the normal IOD process.

You should have someone in HR that deals with IOD claims. You will need to submit a claim and then it will be processed from there on in.

Some bright chair designer decided it'll be cool if the arm rest slopes downwards a lot the closer it gets to your elbow, ie no support. So we take them off and use the desk to rest our arms. And I think it was decided we all had to have the same chairs (who knows why) so obviously cheaper is better!

I started having the pain about 3-4 weeks ago, but it was slight so I thought I'd change up my desk a bit so that different muscles get used. Didn't quite go as planned :p

Thanks to everyone else pointing me in the right direction. HR is essentially just two people here, hopefully they know whats what.
