Hi guys.

Sorry for the newbie question! So I recently started a company (Pty Ltd) and registered it through CIPC and also registered for income tax and turnover tax. In the email confirming my income tax registration, it says that as a company I have to appoint a public officer. Now I know what a public officer is and what their responsibilities and duties towards a company is. However, how do I go about appointing a public officer and registering the person with SARS? I am currently running the company (one man show) so I will obviously be the public officer. But SARS doesn't really give much detail about this process.

Thanks in advance!

The public officer is simply the person who SARS is going to send to jail when your company doesn't pay its taxes. You just need to fill in a form on the Efiling website. In a one-man-band Pty Ltd company the sole director and shareholder will usually be the public officer.

Do you maybe know which form that is? Or where it can be located on the eFiling website?
