How Can You Un-RICA a SIM Card?
I have several SIM cards registered (RICA'd) under my name. These include SIMs for personal use, family members, employees, gate motors (GSM controllers), and LTE routers at remote sites.
The problem arises when I try to RICA new prepaid SIM cards. According to staff at retailers like Checkers and Pep, I’ve reached the limit for the number of SIMs one person can register. The system gives an error when I attempt to RICA additional prepaid SIMs. Interestingly, I don’t face this issue when adding new contract SIMs directly through MTN stores/online. However, I prefer buying prepaid SIMs from retailers like Checkers, Pep, or Ackermans, as they are much cheaper (99 cents compared to R150 at MTN stores).
I primarily use MTN, with one or two Vodacom SIMs. Despite this, the system at retail stores blocks me from registering new SIM cards. To get around the issue, I’ve had to RICA new SIMs under a family member’s name, which works without any errors.
From what I understand, the system allows a maximum of five active SIMs per person, regardless of the network. All networks use the same RICA system. Currently, I have around 10 MTN contract SIMs, 6–8 prepaid SIMs, and 5 Afrihost data SIMs. I’ve also had a few expired or stolen SIMs, which I can't remember the numbers for, These include data SIMs or those used in gate motors.
To resolve this issue, I need to get a list of the SIMs registered under my name and remove or un-RICA unused numbers to free up space for new SIM cards. Anyone know who I can contact to get a list of numbers and that can delete these old numbers from my Rica profile?
