How does one un-RICA simcards?

Just wondering about this.
1. I have ported my number from one network to another. My new simcard must be rica'd to port the number. What happens to the old simcard which was rica'd?
2. At work I have bought a couple of cellphones for staff, and the simcards were rica'd on my name, because to rica it on the business name was a process I did not have time for. If I don't want them on my name, what do I do?
3. I have several unused simcards from various networks lying around from phones I have bought over the last few years, and had to be rica'd so that I can buy the phone. I always use my own simcard in a new phone. I want to throw them away. Must I get permission from the police or goverment to do so? Or can I just walk into a shop and say they must be cancelled?

Why should you need permission?! Just destroy the simcard, then nobody will know what happened, and nobody will be able to use it again.

We have the option to "de-register" a suscriber. Once this is done the line will be RICA locked.

There should also be an option to change ownership of a SIM. "Subscriber Change Owner" on my system.

Probably best if both parties are present as both old and new owner ID's are required...

Try the old SIM's that you have sitting around unused, if unused for over four months since activated they will probably be inactive by now...

I also want to un-rica one of my sim cards - I lost/misplaced the card and it doesn't have a pin on, so I don't want anyone to use the sim on my name. I would like to un-rica, does anyone know how do I go ahead doing it.

Yes I did asked at a Vodacom outlet and according to them I need to report it to the police which I think is nonsense as it wasn't stolen, I just lost it so I can't understand why if I can rica - why can't I also un-rica.

Why would you want to un-RICA? Just leave it. Or chuck the card.

I don't have the card to destroy it.

If you read correctly, I lost it and I've got no idea where, someone could have found it and can use it for crime purposes then it will be traced back to me as it is on my name. It can have real bad implications.

I have to un-rica to get it off my name.

Why don't you cancel it? The network will de reg and recycle.

Part of RICA Act puts a duty on the owner of the SIM (and indeed handset) if lost, stolen or destroyed to report this to the SAPS. Like it or not, you are guilty of a crime if you do not comply!

Whenever a cellular phone or SIM-card is lost. stolen or destroyed. the owner
of that cellular phone or SIM card. or any other person who was in possession. or had
control. thereof when it was so lost. stolen or destroyed. must within a reasonable time
after having reasonably become aware of the loss. theft or destruction of the cellular
phone or SIM-card. report such loss. theft or destruction in person or through a person
authorised thereto by him or her. to a police official at any police station.
