How Far Does Light Travel in a Year?

To Pratchett? Perhaps you don't realise that Pratchett is a Mental Constructionist. He thinks reality is whatever we deem it to be. "We tell the universe what it is" is a notorious quote.

My own view is quite the opposite. We discover reality - it exists quite independently of our own consciousness.

Which is why I rejoice in science, and discoverable phenomena like the ontological status of light - and the non-existence of non-light. Darkness isn't a thing that can be there. It's literally no-thing.

Ook gonna get you!

But then we are "moving" away from something else faster than the "speedlimit". So....

PS even you can move faster than light as Light speed varies

It's not constant as mentioned in your links you can slow it down (or supposedly stop it) but its maximum velocity cannot be exceeded according to relativity.
and no we nor the far galaxies are moving away from each other traveling FTL - but the space between us that's expanding FTL - Special Relativity IIRC

I'd like to think he would have appreciated that.

Anyway, here's a non-sequitir of a quote (or misquote depending on my memory) -

"Vimes's grin was as funny as the one that moves quickly towards drowning men. And has a fin on top."

He probably would have. I'm still upset that there will be no more discworld.

It's not possible for 'reality' to exist independently of our own consciousness. It's a combination of discovery and creation / construction. All phenomena emerge out of a relationship between our biology, neuro chemistry and, we can assume, the environment we find ourselves in. And possibly even our thoughts, feelings and attitudes.

Not really breaking the rule - if you think about it?
Nothing within Space can travel faster then light - but Space itself can expand at a rate faster then light?

Relative observer speed.
Example:
A << 75%c ----------- 75%c >> B
=150%c relative to each other.
