Hi guys,

So Afrihost and Web Africa is useless in answering a simple question, because apparently I need to be phoned to discuss the process (like this is my first rodeo, ****ing clowns)

How fast, from ordering, paying and RICA'ing (and whatever extra hoops you had to jump through with this "massive complicated process" these morons need to phone you about), did they deliver the device to you?

I would appreciate anyone answering, if you went with MWEB, Afrihost, Web Africa etc, and what their turnaround times were.

Takealot delivers next-day. Thanks for the info.

Crystal Web were the only sane ones on their chat, they take 5 days.

I'm with the I-Burst Early.Connect deal, so came directly from I-Burst/Rain. Took 3 days (forms sent Thursday evening, Modem delivered Tuesday morning). Perhaps it was faster as the modem was free - so no need to check if funds are cleared first.

My ordering and delivery process with Afrihost was pretty good. It's only after I got my device that my problems started.

How good is pretty good? 1 day? 2 days?

I think I'll avoid Afrihost for now, they seem to be stumbling around like they started this ISP business yesterday

Mine took 3 days

Seems to me more that you have something against them, which you are perfectly entitled to.

At the end of the day it is Rain's network and all these ISPs are reselling the service, so try one of the other ISP's and see if anything is better.

Just my 2c :)

Order 22 Sept, received 26 Sept @ 11:30 - still no connectivity. (Website says 30 minutes, phoned the call centre at 14:00 and was told to wait). Leaving office to go home now. Hope to have sim activated tonight in order to test.

What's the point of pre-configuration if activation takes this long?

Mine also didn't connect after 30 minutes. So, I went into the settings, changed from auto connect to network, to manually connect. Connected to the 6651, or something, network, and then it was fine. Changed back to auto, and was connected.

I assisted...

My cuatomer ordered it on Wed afternoon.
(He gave them permission to speak to me to speak on his behalf. Old gent)
I did have other internet at the client's home because he use to use iburst.

While in the phome with them.. We scanned and email ID etc. Did the various email bits required.

It was delivered Friday Morning.

The gent now enjoys a stable 20-29mbs where AH insisted he was tooooo close to the coverage border.
(before AH 999 special)

So thank you @WebAfrica for listening.

Yes, the router cost a little more than the AH R1799 deal, but the service was friendly, fast and efficient. And the client pays the R549 for 110GBs...

Plugged the modem in when I got home at 18:05 and had connectivity. 35mb download on network cable, 22mb download on wifi in bedroom.
