Say i now went and upgraded to 1mbit, i would then be upgraded to 4mbit, i put my wireless router in bridge mode and i set max speed on my pc's to 2mbit, i then sell the other 2mbit to the neighbours...

You are assuming you il get the full 4 mbit :). Can't see how it can be illegal though...Think the easiest solution would be to let them buy their own isp account though..

yea thats what i thought that i would put router in bridge mode, so each can dial our own isp...

If you want to be a law abiding citizen then don't supply bandwidth to neighbours who are across a public road from you. Of coarse it's highly unlikely you will ever get into trouble if you did send data across a public road unless you start up your own isp to the whole neibourhood.

If you set the max speed on your pc to 2mbit does that necessarily mean the neighbours would be limited to 2mbit?

your Wireless AP was open
"oh really?...is my next door neighbour connecting to my AP?

sorry didn't know....

the cash in the envolope in my mailbox? (assuming it doesn't get stolen)

oh that is for the pizza i paid for last week

Thought of putting netlimiter on their pc and restricting bandwidth speed... Any other thoughts on how to do this?

what is the best number(s) to contact to upgrade line speed?

please, i want to do it now :D

I'm sure some would suggest a smoothwall or ipcop firewall.

LoL, well i do find myself leaving my car at the petrol station down the road with my laptop in the boot downloading, very fast open AP there ;)

Just one warning...your ability to get 4mbit depens on how far you are from the exchange. So that is why you need to read it carefully...it says up to 4mbit and not just 4mbit.

Spoke to my father in law (who works for Telkom) last night and I asked him what speeds are these lines actually capable of and he said up to 16mbit, but only if you are very close to the actual exchange and only if and once Telkom enables it...probably in 100 years time. :D

Well here are my line stats, can you tell if ill get 4mbit, as it shows line attenuation and noise margin at both sides, exchange and at my place...

this is your exchange:

I phone 0800 375 375 and they told me to phone 10219 i think, i got my line upgraded on that number...

try using ccproxy to share bandwidth or to shape the lines, it's basically a proxy server.

What are you charging them for the 2Mbit? - R300 sounds reasonable.
