How important is Mirco-filters

Hi guys

I seen on the papers I got from Telkom that I need to have a micro-filter installed to work without interference. How important is it to have these and where can I buy them for how much?

You can get them from telkom - they are only needed if you are going to use your telephone for something other than adsl - ie phone/fax - if so they are essential.

They're under r50 iirc and you can get them from telkom stores.

So if I use my ADSL line for ADSL and phone then I need one or two of those?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to ADSL internet. I had Wireless internet for about 3 years now.

Yes .. if you use the line as a normal telephone line then a filter is required udderwise you speaking on the line confuses the data flowing through tha line, and you can hear the data when you talk, which is not exakkery pleasant, and getting disconnected awl the time when somebody speaks is just as annoying.

You need one between the wall jack and every phone to remove the ADSL signal on the phone.

You don't need one before your ADSL modem, as it will prevent the ADSL signal to reach the modem
