How Julius Malema pulls tender strings

Yes, because with Communism, where the state plans the economy, there's way more independence.

Death to the filthy, decadent capitalists, comrades!

Viva la revolucion!

[insert other Bolshevik bull**** here]!

etc.!

Chill dude. Just because communism failed, doesn't mean capitalism is perfect.

I never said it was. It has plenty of problems. It's just the best system out of the available ones.

Governments and businesses conspiring are not a capitalistic failing, it's a failing of governments having too much power.

Governments having too much power or folks with influence having too much money ?

Business and Politics will always mix. That is what Capitalism is all about. Nothing strange about what is happening in SA, it happens the world over. Julias has learnt well from his comrades.....

Don't confuse crony capitalism with real capitalism.

Let me give you an example of why the state is at fault.

In the absence of zoning laws, businesses and people voluntarily buy and sell property where it suits them.

Now put the state in charge and they make zoning restrictions. So they make a zone for all business/industry etc. where there is massive demand for space in short supply (Prices rise) and then the "farmland" or land on the outskirts which is really cheap (because lack of demand). Now the farmers realise there is a massive disparity between the value of his land and the value of the "business zone" land right next door. So he realises he can make loads of money if he gets his land re-zoned.

In order to do this, he needs the state to get on his side. How do you think the does this? Bribes.

Take away the power of the state, there is no one to bribe, regardless of how much money you have.

Name a country that has Capitalism in its purest from with no cronies , or a country that is not embroiled in scandals or corrupt officials running the circus ?

That's human nature and will always be the case. However the solution is not to allocate more power to the government, because as has been witnessed, this is the cornerstone of corruption in the first place...

Sometimes I wish I could pull a John Galt and see how quickly South Africa will implode and watch Malema scratching his head wondering where all his money went and then eventually squabble over carcasses and eventually starve to death.

Power to whom then ? the people ?

Its the same people that will be voted into power, then become corrupt and enrich themselves to the detriment of the ordinary folk .

And therein lies the problem with any political structure. I don't have the answer, but I know for a fact that it doesn't involve allocating more power to a government...

I can't, which is why we've never had "true" capitalism.

We go to a Republic form of governance, then slowly towards more and more decentralised till finally the state as we know it ceases to exist.

You're just suggesting replacing the government with different people. The same problem remains. They're as you said "voted into power". It's that power which needs to be vastly reduced. The solution lies in letting people do what they want, within reason of of course, i.e respecting others.

A government should not have the power to tell you who you can and cannot hire, where you can build your business, who is allowed to provide services and who not (monopolies) or especially the power to conceal tender processes. They shouldn't be trying to take care of us, we're adults. They work for us. Being a government employee, even a minister or president, shouldn't be something glamorous that people fight over. It should be a serious responsibility like any other job, not a ticket to instant wealth. If millions or billions of rands just disappear and a particular person responsible, he/she should be fired and prosecuted, done and dusted, just like if it happens at the company you or I work for. No blameshifting, no bull****.

When you work with public money, the lowest tender fulfilling the needs should be accepted. No ifs ands or buts. No using a different supplier each time, no demographics that, disadvantaged that, no closed processes, anything.

In short: Power corrupts. Take away power, take away a large part of corruption.

The more I think about this, the more I side with Wild Cat and Hard Rain in that public money is merely a ruse to maintain their monopolisation of as much as possible. If you think about it, there really is no need for public money to run so deep in the pockets. Government should have limited allocation of cash to maintain critical services while letting the free market run as unhindered as possible...

You see that is where the kick comes in. He and his fellow buddies will have millions in overseas accounts. They'll live nicely... while the rest just starve to death.
Look at Zim, Zambia etc. The goverment sells them out to China (president get rich, he sold the country to China)... and the "normal" people k@k in the pompie ...

hopefully they spend their money quickly, so they run out. It is actually easy to go trough a Billion rand. then they starve.
