Hi all,

I recently moved back to SA from abroad. I need to work from home most of the time at my new job. I only moved into the apartment today and need internet before starting my job (which is the 1st).

The apartment complex uses octotel. All lights are on and healthy on the little octotel CPE.

If I go with Afrihost, how long does it usually take for line/internet activation? I have my own router so no need to wait for router delivery

Thanks!

It's usually a couple of hours with Octotel as soon as the client confirm the activation when Octotel calls/emails

OH wow, expected it to take longer. Thanks for confirming! Assuming activation is only done during weekdays 8-5pm?
Mostly during the week for the quickest turnaround time since it's a manual process but possible over weekends also.

Great, thanks! Before ordering, I just want to make sure that I don't need an octotel technician to come out. The things that worries me is that my box that holds the actual fibre is in pieces, yet my lights seem healthy (see attached) . Think I'm fine to just order?

The PON light is on which means the link is up but one sweep of the broom or a sudden jerk of the cable and it will probably break. I would say try to wind the cable up or once activated we can arrange a tech to attend.

Perfect thanks. I'll sign up tomorrow before 8. Thanks again for the help!

Fyi - I have placed an order. Order number AH366AB65E7E4D. During the ordering process I chose migration (although I'm not really migrating as I don't have an ISP at this time). Couldn't have gone with new installation as my octotel line is already installed. Hope that's OK.

Morning.

I sent you a PM, I would like to confirm the street address.

The order has these notes added.

No emails on my side I'm afraid. I've only received response from afrihost as far as I can tell, which I have responded to

Edit: OK no I'm lying. I see it's an octotel address I have responded to. So in their hand now. Sorry for the confusion

Still not online. Octotel promised me yesterday that I'll be activated within 24 hours. 30 hours later, still nothing.
This morning I sent an email to octotel just to confirm that I will be activated today, they say yes.

It is now 15:20. I doubt they'll be activating me after 17:00..which means they have 1hr 40mins to activate me before it gets pushed to tomorrow. Not looking good

Exceptional service from Afrihost, but octotel... Guess I'll give them until 5pm

Edit: @AfriNatic assuming nothing can be done on your side seeing that it's sitting with Octotel?
