How long does an intra bank transfer take

Hey guys. My brother did an internet transfer to someone I needed to pay urgently (family member needing money). I specifically asked him because I'm with Standard bank so I knew if I were to transfer directly to this person(who's with FNB) then there will be a day's delay.

So since my brother is with FNB as well I asked him to do a transfer as it would be quicker after which I'll just repay him.

Question, how long does it take before the other person gets the money?
 
If he did it before 12:00, it would be available the same day; after 12:00, the next day. I'm with FNB, so I would know.
 
FNB to FNB is nearly instantaneous.
 
OK, so are there any exceptions to the rule? You know, like any amount above a certain limit will get scrutinized first before being cleared?
 
Guys, the transfer will show in your inContact messages but, in case of a transfer after 12:00, the funds will only be available the next day. This is because they do a process run at 12:00, which processes all the transactions before 12:00 and then sometime the next morning before they open they do another run, so that they can start the day with a clean slate.
 
i made a net transfer yest to my gfs fnb account and she got the money same time and that was at 1430

well she called immediately and asked why so much :D
 
yeah my fnb to fnb have always been instant with only one or two exceptions which were to business accounts near month end.

hahahahha the reason i give her money is so i dont spend it ...cause money in my acc means buying stuff and on the list in kinect, drifta, laptop and media player and if money didnt go to her then i would have had all that

Before 12:00 same day, after 12:00 the next day. After 12:00 the money will show on his acc but it won't be 'available'. However, if both accounts have a impeccable track record (no arrears!), are of a hi value and standard and/or at least one similar transaction happened before with no issues whatsoever, FNB can use its discretion and release the money earlier. Would not bet on it though. If your friend is in financial trouble chances are, his Fnb acc has taken some beating in the past already.

haha don't be disillusion it is never free whether a girlfriend or a wife your always paying for it one way or another :p
