How long does MWEB Throttling last?

I noticed today that my line was very slow, so I suspected that I was getting throttled. I logged into my MWEB account and saw that I was indeed being throttled. I downloaded a lot of games recently, all legal though, mainly through steam or blizzard, and that's why my usage was so excessive recently. I would just like to know how long it will remain throttled? Or isn't there a specific time?

Will take a few days.

MWEB's works on your average over the last 30days.

So if you stop downloading for a few days it should get better.

Hi Blaqdot

Once within the allocated threshold does the speed limiting get lifted. Usage is calculated over a 30 day rolling window & not month to month.

e.g. if you have a 4MB Premium account the threshold is in the region of 400GB

Your usage can be viewed via My Account on our website: www.mweb.co.za

i stream netflix and internet radio constantly and generally average 100GB per month.
but during the holiday season we're using more data and as such throttled from before 200GB!

as per your link...

Connection status: Throttled
Your total usage for the past 30 days: 173.39 GB

shouldn't the 6mbps uncapped deal also be throttled at the 400GB mark then?

6Meg Standard is like 150GBs. 6Meg Premium is 600GBs.

Hi verain14. The threshold for the 2mb standard account is around 70gb in a 30 day rolling window.

Send me a PM with your MWEB details and i will have a look into this for you

thanks , i am still receiving the AUP letters btw

I've always been curious on how slow do you go? If you 4mb, do they drop you down to 2mb or do you basically get a numb connection were streaming is out the question and the only page that loads with some haste is Google.

Mweb throttling lasts for as long as you realise that mweb is a terrible ISP and you cancel and go over to a proper ISP without shifty shaping policies. Like crystalweb or WA business.

This.

Mweb's packages as well as AUP throttling is atrocious, going by the experiences of everyone who I know that have had them as an ISP.

I've had loads of issues wit Afrihost Business lately, but it says a lot that I've rather stuck it out with them rather than come to Mweb or similar.

Its been five days , I have not even used my internet and it is still throttled. If this is not how you get back into the "AUP threshold" then I don't know how. They also say since I am a new user my 15 day usage is doubled to see if I should be throttled or not which I think is utter bs

Well, I am glad that I am not alone on this. If you're a new mweb user like me , well its bad news it goes so slow that you have to wait 5 mins to load a 144p video that is 2 mins long
