How long from pink to dark pink

My street has gone from blank to pink status (fibre roll-out planned) on Telkom's coverage map for fibre. The status changed about 2 weeks ago. How long does it typically take for it to go from pink to dark pink (fibre available)?

Also, we've seen them digging up trenches, laying cables for several months now, but nothing in the immediate street outside our home - the digging kinda stopped about 100m from our home at the street corner adjacent to us. Should we be worried that fibre won't "reach" us?

I'm right on the border of Claremont / Rondebosch in Cape Town.

Well that typically depends on Telkom, my area took about 9 months from when they started trenching to dark pink. So it could still be a while.

Well, we are all now disappointed

But to give you an idea, ours went dark pink within a month, but 6 months later no one has an actual installation yet. I waited for 2 months and was met with complete silence and then cancelled the order

Wow! That's scary. Any explanations so far?

Talking out of experience - even if changes colour ( say 4 months plus ) does not mean you 100% ready as they might come to install and realise infrastructure not complete . Patience

Im not optimistic theyve been installing by us for 4 months already and keep breaking my adsl line.

I think they are just putting the infrustructure in place to prevent the smaller players getting a foothold. And as soon as a smaller player starts rolling out they bring theirs online.
