If only Etzebeth, as a lock, had launched himself into a horizontal dive through the air, to shoulder the opposing prop in the face.

Would only have been a 20 minute red card.
 
From the whispers, they aren't considering mitigation, but I guess that is why Etzebeth has to wait until there is an outcome. I do hope that he gets the minimum sentence.
 
What have other eye gougers punishments been in the past?

And seeing as this was Eben's first red card.
 
Oh well it could have been worse.

Stupid of EE though and should have been like all the other teams nanny's and complained to the ref when he was eye gouged a few seconds before.

But hey we all know the Bokke are now targets for suppression.
