Or ubuntu remix for that matter...

Very keen on this little puppy here but ive noticed that some of the eees have certain driver incompatibilities or video+compiz conflicts.

Can anyone shed anymore light on this matter. How compatible is this netbook in particular and netbooks in general with ubuntu? Im looking for the same experience i have on my desktop matched tick for tick... What else would you recommend in this price to performance range? The link above really seems like a good deal even though at the moment there is only the xp version available.

Well I've got the Aspire One 8.9" SSD version and very very happy. One important thing about a Netbook (as posted by me before): Its not a desktop replacement nor is it a notebook - its an appliance.

Surf the web, type a mail and do some letters is what its made for. I've been using it for my UNISA assignment, at work I use it for sysadmin support (ssh into servers) and my wife steals it know and again to do her bookkeeping.

Its small, compact and portable - and you get use to the small size.

On the OS I would just put on standard Ubuntu for now - MID versions are still not stable. I did try out Moblin today and that rocks. Super light weight and responsive. Works out of the box (WiFi and all).

A fair amount of effort had to go into installing ubuntu on the acer aspire one I have. Wifi was partucularly troublesome. Maybe I should scrub the ubuntu install and give this moblin a shot.
