A bit of help, please. Is there a programme I can use running in the background that will measure how many megs or kbs I've used up during an on line game. Going to play CoH on line and I'm curious as to how much an average game will use up.

well u can see it in windows if u connect to internet and u see the icon with the (2 computers in a network) at the bottom right corner of your screen . u can always just double click on it. and it will tell u how much bytes u would have sent and recieved. add it together and u will know how much cap u used.

This will only work if your dsl is set up in such way that u have to connect to the internet 1st.I know some ppl's dsl is set up so that they connected as soon as they start there pc.

And this wil also not be accurate if u have another computer on the same line also using your internet cap.

Google "free bandwidth monitor" and download one of the resulting programs. I have used a few a number of times and they worked quite well! I thought a game was using my cap but it turned out *something* was randomly downloading large amounts of data for no reason.

Anyway, CoH shouldn't use much bandwidth. A 3 gig cap lasted me the entire month in the past (playing Guild Wars on a hardcore basis), but since I am no longer the only hardcore internet user in the house I've had to increase my cap size.

1. command prompt (click start run.. and type cmd)

2. Netstat -e (when the console screen appears type Netstat -e (for ethernet) It should show your internet data usage shortly.)

Although I would like to suggest that you turn your pc off and on to clear the counter because it starts at zero everytime your pc loads up.

3. good luck :D

Many thanks, guys. I've downloaded have Netmeter and NetLimiter. Both do what I want. :)
