I am getting a new Ivy Bridge set up next week so its time to sell my old PC. How much do you think can I get for the following:

Intel E8200
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
3 Gb of DDR2 800 RAM
Samsung DVD RW Combo Drive
MSI 5770 hawk
Tower but NO PSU and no harddrive.

I am keeping the harddrives and the PSU as it is sufficient for my new set up. Alternatively I may also keep the graphics card a while longer.

mate selling a used pc is a hard thing to do. Selling it without a PSU & hard drive makes it even more difficult, your target audience is basically people who just want to buy the thing and use it.

The HD 5770 is probably worth R600, doubtful you'd get that much for it though.

Yeah mate R1500- R2000 is a decent amount. I gave my old pc away, not worth the effort of even posting on gumtree.

Its better than nothing. Maybe I should just assemble the whole thing. I have a couple of old hard drives lying around and I could buy a cheap PSU...

Do you reckon I can get much more if I add PSU and HD?

IF you want to further sweeten the deal, put some more work into it like this.

#1 Convert it into an HTPC,
#2 Put a 4GB Flash and load it up with Openelec or another iteration of XBMC (free software so no license woes)
#3 Put some media on it (you don't have to, but some 1080p content to show it can handle it? would help)
#4 Get a cheap IR receiver & remote (check HP MicroServer thread for where) and if the user has an Android / IOS phone, they already have a remote :p
#5 Maybe you got a screen lying around too, throw that in aswell so if its an LCD , about R3-400 more.

If you like to get really detailed, workout the power usage on this thing and tell them that using it for x amount of hours compared to watching *DSTV would use less power :D. (i don't really know if it does but nice to know nevertheless :) ).

*No personal deep hatred for DSTV, just nice if their pricing dropped / seperated Sports..

Hope that helps ye

/you might endup using it for above :p as its a fun little project.
