My new landlady is a ABSA bank manager of a mid-sized town. How much do you think she makes?

That sounds right but keep in mind they do get benefits so R180K would not be CTC (cheaper loans; etc)
It's still not a great salary. For example you might get a cheaper home loan, but you wouldn't qualify for a loan to buy a decent enough house.

Actually you do with ABSA, my ex-boet in law has buried himself into a low interest debt hole as a senior staff member at ABSA. I was amazed at how much debt he could accumulate when he first started off with them and last I hear he made the debt-curcule bigga!

Got family in banking as well. Turns out they're seriously cutting back on benefits as well. The Chinese and Brits don't like seeing an extra cent going to staff members. They'd rather that cash ended up in their pockets in the form of obsecene bonuses.

More than you? :p

My first reaction was ... of course she earns more than me.

But then I saw from some peeps that bank managers earn only 180 grand a year. My headmaster makes about that a year, I think ( I may be wrong). And he's in the public sector.

And he deals with **** far worse than finicky loaners and troublesome debtpayers.

One would think that somone like she in the private sector (in the banking sector no less) would make more. I think all the money goes to the directors ... bastards.

Just for clarification the R180,000 is for a Capitec Branch Manager.
